Struggling With Menopause Symptoms? Get Clarity & Confidence About Optimizing Your Hormones With My New Online Program

Steve Goldring, The Hormone Pharmacist

What if you could experience clarity and confidence about your approach to menopause?
Let's face it! There's a lot of confusing and conflicting information out there about menopause and the best ways to approach it. It's no wonder women throw up their hands in exasperation.

Menopause is hard! And it gets even harder once you start looking into all the options, trying to find something . . . anything that can help you feel better.

Each Woman Experiences Menopause Differently
There's no "one-size-fits-all" answer to menopause because no two women have the same struggles. That's especially true when it comes to deciding whether hormones might be a good option.

I've talked with thousands of women in menopause over my 30 year career as a pharmacist. I've looked into their eyes and seen their concerns and they've told me about their anxieties. I've seen women's frustration and anger at not finding any solutions or even feeling heard. I've even seen tears of hopelessness and despair, wondering if they'll ever get back to the way life used to be.

Two Consistent Themes
Even though every woman is different, two themes have been consistent in my interactions with women in menopause.

  1. The first is that many women feel confused about what the best approach to menopause should be.
  2. The second is that they've developed a fear of hormones, especially because hormones have gotten reputation for causing things like heart attacks, blood clots, and even breast cancer.

It's Not Your Fault
I'm here to tell you that any confusion or fear you may have experienced is completely understandable. You're not making this stuff up! It makes perfect sense that you might have some confusion or even apprehension when it comes to menopause and dealing with something that's literally "life-changing."

I Have Something That Can Help You Make Your Decision

Are You Feeling As Good As Ever?
In your 20s or 30s, you probably felt pretty good.

Unfortunately, after age 45, life starts getting hard!

Many of the struggles you face can be traced to hormone levels, which "go wild" for 4 to 6 years, then drop off to near zero once women hit menopause.

Physical symptoms like . . .

  • hot flashes
  • night sweats
  • sleeping only 2-3 hours almost every night
  • exhaustion every single day
  • forgetfulness and foggy thinking
  • vaginal dryness and painful intercourse

Emotional symptoms that affect relationships and loved ones . . .

  • low sex drive
  • irritability and moodiness
  • anger at spouse or kids
  • depression and the nagging question: "Is there any hope for me?"
  • anxiety that feels "paralyzing," like "I can barely leave the house"
  • not feeling like yourself

Menopause Weight Gain - It's About Hormones
Menopause almost always comes with some weight gain, especially in the waist. "Eating clean" and working out constantly don't seem to help on the quest to lose those extra pounds.

Menopause increases the chances for metabolic syndrome, a set of symptoms that starts with 5, 10, or even 20 pounds, mostly around the waist, then develops into something called "visceral fat." It's basically fat inside your abdomen, around your organs. Visceral fat can lead to insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, full-blown diabetes, and even heart disease.

Once you've been through Journey to Optimal Hormones, you'll get the relationship between hormones and your metabolism. You'll see how optimal levels of key hormones can help you make real progress with diet and exercise. You'll discover how optimal hormones can reverse metabolic syndrome, decrease visceral fat, and prevent the health problems that come with those excess pounds.

Hoping To Wait Out Menopause?
Maybe you aren't really sure what to do or who to talk with about menopause and all those horrible symptoms? So you end up doing nothing, hoping the symptoms will just go away.

Some women sail through menopause but not everyone's that lucky. You may have such severe menopause symptoms that you feel hopeless, desperate for solutions. You may have stuff happening in your body and mind that you don't even realize is caused by menopause. It can seem like you're completely out of options.

Menopause Is Not a Disease
It's a natural transition that happens to every woman who reaches age 51 or who has a complete hysterectomy. For many women, menopause can be the beginning of a long, difficult struggle that can last 7, 10, or even 14 years. That's a long time to wait it out!

Are You Doing Everything? (except hormones)
Maybe hormones are a little scary, so you try everything else . . .

  • Yoga and other exercises that calm your body, mind, and spirit
  • Herbal supplements like black cohosh, soy, flaxseed, and dong quai
  • Vitamin A, vitamins B-6 and B-12, vitamin D, vitamin E that are frequently recommended for menopause
  • Dietary changes like cutting out alcohol, spicy foods, gluten, sugar, carbohydrates, or chocolate
  • Dressing in layers that help you cope with hot flashes
  • Meditation, stopping smoking, reducing stress, and other lifestyle changes that may reduce symptoms
  • Essential oils and acupuncture

Some of these may have some effectiveness for some women, especially for hot flashes.

If you've tried non-hormone treatments for menopause and they just haven't given you the relief you'd hoped for, you might want to look into making your own Journey to Optimal Hormones .

Frequently Asked Questions

Shouldn't I just ask my doctor about hormones for menopause?
YES! I strongly recommend that you talk with your doctor about hormones for menopause. For most people, that's not as simple as it sounds. You can't just whip out your phone and call up your physician to talk for 45 minutes about the good and bad of hormone replacement. You'll call and make an appointment, which might not be right away. You'll go into the office, pay a copay for an office visit. A nurse will take your vital signs and ask you some health questions. Recent surveys show the average time a doctor spends with a patient is 13 to 16 minutes! It might be helpful to have all your basic hormone questions already answered by the videos in Journey to Optimal Hormones so you can ask more specific ones when you see your physician.
What if my doctor is opposed to me taking hormones?
That's a tricky situation many women face. You may eventually come to a decision point. Do you trust your existing doctor, who may not have a complete understanding of the real risks and benefits of optimal hormones? Or do you find a doctor who has training and experience as a hormone optimization specialist? Once you've gone through Journey to Optimal Hormones, you'll be better equipped to make that choice.
Are you just trying to convince me to take hormones?
I'm not here to tell you what to do. You are the best judge as to what works best for your health and well-being. I am here to help you make the most informed decision for yourself. I believe optimal hormones are the best start to getting healthy and staying that way. You're an intelligent woman who can decide, along with your doctor, if hormone optimization is right for you. I'm here to help you get the facts about hormones in a way that's clear and simple.
Isn't it true that some women just can't take hormones?
The number of women who will benefit from properly prescribed and monitored hormones is much higher than many people realize. For most women, optimizing hormones is the safest and most effective option. A qualified hormone optimization doctor can help you decide if hormones are right in your particular situation.
Don't many doctors say women shouldn't take hormones to prevent disease?
I'll cover this question in more detail later, but the short answer is YES! There are doctors and physician groups who make a point of saying it's not safe to take hormones to prevent disease. The research in the medical literature is overwhelmingly opposed to this viewpoint. Hormone Optimization, when done by a physician who really knows what she's doing, is the key to optimal health. A doctor who says otherwise does not truly understand how using the right hormone in the right way minimizes your risks.
When can I watch the videos?
You'll get access to the videos immediately after you enroll. Journey to Hormone Optimization is self-paced - you decide when you start and when you finish. You can watch the videos as many times as you like.
Why are you calling it a "journey?"
Hormones are complicated and different for each person. I've chosen to look at hormone optimization as something that unfolds over time, rather than a single event. You may be interested, but not ready to take the plunge. Or you may have started taking steps toward optimizing your hormones. You could even be deep in the process, yet have questions. These videos can help you, no matter where you are on that journey.
